Filming In Korea : COVID-19 Procedures

2021-04-27
Here in Korea, we've never shut down productions since we've never locked down any places. There are some international productions such as Netflix TV series, Apple TV Plus series, Youtube documentary and French feature films which have filmed safely in Korea last year.
But the producer said it's been hard to get permissions for locations, both public and private.

Starting from the end of January 2020, filming inside subway trains and stations is banned by the Seoul city government. Not only the subway in Seoul but also a lot of places in Korea where you have to get approval from the government like police stations, hospitals, medical institutions, and parks are hard to film in. This situation are continued till now.

Korea has implemented Special Entry Procedures for all Koreans and foreign nationals arriving from overseas. It's mandatory now for all people arriving in the country to enter into a 14-day self-quarantine in the designated hotel near the airport. During the quarantine period, the foreign nationals must pay their own accommodations and will be asked to follow the guidelines and report the status every day by an app. So technically anybody who want to film in Korea can come and shoot in Korea but all the process seems not to be easy for now.
